Platinum Jubilee Alnwick

Platinum Jubilee

We've put together a royal lineup for you!

The May/June Jubilee bank holiday is expected to be jam-packed with street events and tea parties. Our master Butchers & Bakers have put together a range of limited edition goods to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

These will only be available from the 23rd May to the 5th June.  To minimise disappointment, we recommend ordering ahead of time.
In true royal style, Her Majesty's former chef, Darren McGrady, revealed he would make burgers from the deer the royals would shoot at Balmoral, and he would then stuff the venison with other ingredients, including cranberries. Our team of Butchers have taken that inspiration and created the Jubilee Burger - a mix of Pork, Cranberries & Wensleydale Cheese with a Red Wine Glaze......"
Recently discovered whilst cleaning out the loft at the Turnbull's Town Centre Shop (click here to watch video) we stumbled across John Turnbull's old recipe book. Within the dust-cladded pages was a sausage recipe which was made in celebration of the Queens coronation in 1952. Corse ground free-range Pork was mixed with sweet onion and the finest selection of English garden herbs. We have resurrected this recipe to honor the Platinum Jubilee of 2022.
Our team of skilled butchers have created a truffle which fuses together two classic British dishes: Coronation Chicken & Chicken Tikka. The truffles are made using minced chicken with mild curry spices filled with a creamy sauce.
The Queen is known to spend her summer holidays at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire. To compliment our very popular Balmoral Chicken dish made by our Butchers, our team of Bakers wanted to go the extra mile and create something even better.... Steak, Haggis & Whiskey Sauce in hot water pastry. Behold... the Balmoral Pie.
We have all heard the tale of how Coronation Chicken was created in 1953, when renowned florist Constance Spry and cordon bleu chef Rosemary Hume catered for a banquet to celebrate the coronation of Elizabeth II. Our Bakers have turned the iconic recipe into a Pie (minus the mayonnaise)

Another inspiration from the Queen’s Royal Chef, Darren McGrady, is for Sausage Rolls. Not very regal we know… However, Darren has said the Queen used to treat young Prince William & Harry to Sausage Rolls with a dollop of tomato sauce. Our bakers have created a Sausage, Bean & Cheese Roll for the youngsters of Northumberland. Highly recommended to be eaten with some ketchup!
